In 1977, three years after
The Partridge Family ended, Susan Dey returned to the half hour situation comedy format with
Loves Me, Loves Me Not. She had spent her post-Partridge time doing nearly a dozen guest appearances on various TV shows and a TV movie (
Cage Without a Key).
Loves Me, Loves Me Not was a chance for Susan Dey to return to regular series television and in the starring role. The show was created by the team that would produce the more successful
Soap later that year and featured Susan Dey acting opposite Kenneth Gilman (who is now known as Kip Gilman). The plot revolved around a California schoolteacher named Jane Benson (Dey) and her romantic ventures with newspaper reporter Dick Phillips (Gilman). Unfortunately, the show only ran for six episodes before being cancelled.
