The Partridge Family is the show that made Susan Dey famous and was the stepping stone she used to build a successful 24 year career. As much as she tried to distance herself from the role after the show ended, to many she will forever be identified as Laurie Partridge.

It was great example of casting. The show was a vehicle for teen idol David Cassidy, who appealed to young girls. To balance this, they found the most beautiful model they could find to appeal to the boys. However, they specifically wrote the character of Laurie Partridge to be a role model for young girls, allowing her not be hated by many of the girls who watched the show.
Susan Dey played the role of Laurie Partridge from 1970-1974 during the show's four season run on ABC. She also voiced her Laurie Partridge character on the cartoon series Goober and the Ghost Chasers and on Partridge Family 2200 AD (although she didn't do Laurie's voice in every episode).
The greatest news of all is that all four seasons of The Partridge Family have been released on dvd! Unlike so many other shows where they release the first season and then quit, someone had the presence of mind to unleash every episode of the show in crisp, clear quality. Someone also had bright idea to make each season affordable! Plus, The Partridge Family is one of those shows which you can watch over and over again. Sorry if this sounds like a sales pitch...but the show is a classic and probably deserves to be in your collection if it isn't already!

Even though they played brother and sister on The Partridge Family, many people seemed to think that Susan Dey and David Cassidy had a certain sexual chemistry. It has been claimed that they had a brief relationship in real life. Regardless, both actors and the characters they portrayed were both very appealing to many viewers.
Susan Dey and David Cassidy never worked together again after The Partridge Family ended. It was good while it lasted, though! They reuntied publicly at least twice for an awards show and a benefit, but otherwise they have had little or nothing to do with each other.
